Maintaining a place in the Grammar Stream
To maintain a place in the Grammar Stream students’ progress will be rigorously monitored by the Grammar Stream Leader through a variety of methods. The methods used will take the form of:
Constant analysis of progress in summative assessments such as end of unit or end of year tests
Progress panels – rigorous meetings where progress of each pupil is discussed, and interventions are identified
Rigorous formative assessment strategies, such as questioning styles and written feedback
Students who do not maintain their high attainment across all subjects will come under review, where points for improvement will be offered, and students will be expected to engage with improvements. A continued place in the Grammar Stream will not be guaranteed.
In order for students to maintain their place in the Grammar Stream, they should:
Consistently follow the Academy’s mantra of “High Expectations – No Excuses”
Plan and deliver student led parents’ evening consultations in which they evidence how they have made progress in each of their subjects and how they will overcome academic barriers
Pursue a range of extra-curricular activities
Be proactive in seeking support and guidance from their teachers
Engage fully in the relevant Project Qualification for their Key Stage
Fulfil a range of group roles including leadership and coordination
Have a good or outstanding attitude to learning
